Census is on and we should know by June 2012 how many saffas (japies, expats, etc) have made Perth their new home.
Here is some info on the 2006 census re South Africans in W.A. and QLD. Be assured that numbers would have changed dramatically.

My family and I are part of a National Geographic competition that is on air at the moment. We're trying to rally support but it's not as easy as it would be back in SA as we don't have the history of networking here like the other two competing families who grew up in Australia do.
The other two families over east have managed a massive campaign (we never imagined it would be this big) and we really need to draw on the support of our
fellow South Africans here to help us win this.
We think the most important aspect of this link and our entry is how beautiful Western Australia is, how it really sells it as an amazing place to live and how
South Africans are so appreciative of what we have here.
We would really like your support with this and ask you to take a look at the link and give us your vote: http://natgeotv.com.au/nissanxtrail/Profile.aspx?id=57
You can vote as many times as you like and you could also win $10,000 in travel vouchers.
Many thanks
The Raaths

Can anyone help with assistance in securing a tour of set performances to take place in Australia’s main cities including Perth, Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne? This is from July 2012 till December 2012 for approximately about an week and half, or for as many performances as we can organize between ourselves. The time span for performances are open for discussion between all relevant parties.
We’ve received overwhelming response from all corners of the globe, especially where South Africans reside, to bring the ROOIWARM Production to their doorsteps. South Africans are starved for productions/products from their home country and as you will see from the presentation below, this production will be perfect in reminding them of their roots.

I am unsure if I am using the correct avenue but hope you may be able to assist me in the right direction if not!
We have a family run Butcher Shop and Australian Standards Abattoir business of 40 years for sale in Hyden Western Australia (wheatbelt) and have been advised to make contact with South African recruitment to source a prospective buyer trying to get to Australia from South Africa wanting to buy an established business.
We have a small South African support network already (12 families) in our rural community and believe this business opportunity is an exciting beginning for a new South African family.
I would appreciate any assistance you may be able to provide.
Kind regards
Megan Haslam

My name is Romy and I am doing a PhD at the University of Adelaide. My topic is migration between South Africa and Australia.
In particular, I'm looking at migrants' motivations, settlement experiences, linkages with South Africa, and thoughts on citizenship and identity.
As a migrant myself, I long to understand more about this process.
Part of the data collection for this research involves an online survey of South African migrants in Australia at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/SATOAUSSURVEY
I'll be in Perth November 29 - December 1 to conduct interviews with key stakeholders in the migration process and the South African community. Can you think of others in the SA community in Perth I should talk to?
