I will be volunteering overseas in South Africa this summer and need your help to make it happen!

I will be volunteering in projects such as habitat restoration, wildlife rescue and care, and assisting underprivileged children and communities. This experience will broaden my cultural awareness. I will be volunteering with participants from all over Australasia in areas that need help. This is an amazing chance to give back and make a difference in another country.

As this program costs $7,850AUD (EDIT 7/8/11: including airfare) - I would really appreciate any contributions you can give to help offset the cost of this amazing opportunity to give back to another country that has so much need.

Your donation will go towards my program and travel costs, which total to approximately $8,000 (this amount covers costs ranging from my accommodations, meals, project fees, ground transportation and flights to cultural and adventure activities, program staff and program set-up).

Krista has been selected to represent Australia in an international volunteer program this summer. She will be traveling to South Africa to volunteer for an 80-100 hour project focusing on teaching English and social community development.

She is looking for help with fundraising and would be grateful if you could sponsor her for $1.50 an hour ($150 total), or for any amount you can give. Krista will be able to invest in the lives of disadvantaged people, including children. Her team will live within the local community and gain hands-on, practical experience in areas such as: teaching English, constructing homes and/or community facilities, and developing recreational programs for children. Krista will learn about the socio-economic challenges of people who live in developing countries and communities.

Krista is a student at Edith Cowan Univeristy in Western Australia and will receive academic credit for participating in this Program.
