Ringball, better known as Korfball to the older people has been played in South Africa since 1907.   The name change from Korfball to Ringball in 2007 to enable the sport to develop internationally.  It is currently being promoted in Netherlands, New Zealand, Namibia, Botswana and other African countries.   The sport is now promoted in Australia to establish it as an international sport.

Ringball is normally played seperate by males and females but can also be played on a social or team building basis with mixed teams.  The game is played on all weather, grass or indoor courts.  The courts measures 27m x 18m and is divided in 3 equal thirds, with 3 players per team playing only in theire own third.  Each team consists of 3 goal shooters, 3 centre players and 3 defenders.  A netball court can also be used to play Ringball, with minor adjustments to it.  It is a family sport, everyone can gets involved, it is played from U/11 right through to the Masters.  The SA Championships is help in September 2010, normally it is held at the end of June, becauses of the Soccer World Cup it is later this year.  (I'm just thinking, wouldn't it be Great if we can have a team or teams from Perth to participate in the Championships this year ?)

Teams from Ringball South Africa is arriving in Perth on the 20th of June 2010 to play exhibition matches in and around Perth in most of the big and well known indoor Stadiums.  (Check the calender for the dates and times)  The tour will consist of two SA Senior women's teams, two SA Senior men's teams and two SA U/23 women's action teams, together with managers and referees.

Will it be possible to get enough people together to make up a team or teams to play against these teams ?  Let's see if we can make things happen in Perth, help us to start Ringball in Perth. The best sport in the whole world.
